Early Days in Greece and making waves down under
Stephanos kicked off his judo journey in Greece, where he quickly made a name for himself. He competed at the national level and racked up some serious hardware, including a gold medal in the Open category and a silver in the U95kg division at the Greek Championships back in 1992. Talk about starting strong!
After achieving success in Greece, Stephanos moved to Australia and continued to shine. He snagged gold at the 1998 Australian Championships in the U100kg category on Hamilton Island. Plus, he earned a silver medal at the 2007 Oceania Open World Cup in Perth. His competitive spirit and skill have made him a respected figure in the judo scene.
Coaching with Passion
Now, Stephanos isn’t just a competitor; he’s also a fantastic coach! He’s the joint ACT State Coach for Judo and serves as the Head Judo Coach here at High Rollers Canberra. His coaching style and attention to detail means a well thought through curriculum designed to help athletes grow both personally and competitively, making him an invaluable part of our team.

Stephanos comes with some impressive qualifications:
- 5th Dan Black Belt from the International Judo Federation
- International Judo Federation Coach Level 2
- National Level Kata and Grading Black Belt Examiner for Judo Australia
- National Level Referee for Judo Australia
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education and Science from Athens, Greece
